Today marks 5 years since I became director of DRSC Publishers Ltd., since the change of staff and offices 5 years ago.
In the past 5 years, a lot has changed. The focus of the company has moved away from low margins in the book publishing industry to higher margins in specialized translations, graphic design, supplying data to some clients and recently launching DRSC Media. We’ve also had to prepare for Brexit, even if it is still unclear whether the main offices will have to be moved to mainland Europe or not.
A lot of projects have also been cancelled along the way. DRSC Accountancy ended up closing its doors and not offering services to other companies except ours, DRSC Publishers stopped selling their own solutions to the public, while DRSC Translators and DRSC Designers started operating in a more independent way, while still working closely with the main branch. Finally, DRSC PublishersX was cancelled before the release of any book, and Viking Games never got to release any product due to budget constraints and failing to adapt to the current market. With Viking Games closed a long ago, this means DRSC Publishers is holding some game projects that are either mostly finished or still requiring work before being “playable” and ready for commercial release.
At the end of August, after a lot of discussions between the staff and the remaining authors, we finally decided to stop our publishing activities, at least for now, and move full time to DRSC Translators, DRSC Designers and DRSC Media. On that front, nothing has changed.
In any case, I wish to thank the staff and investors who have remained with me (and us) for the past 5 years, and hope we’ll still be here in 5 years,
